Position Summary:

Summary: Responsible for generating treatment plans based on dosage prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Consult with the Radiation Oncologist, Medical Physicist, Radiation Therapist, Breast Surgeon, Clinical Trials Coordinator and other department personnel to generate treatment plans.

2. Utilize diagnostic imaging studies, such as X-Rays, CTs, and MRIs, for determining position and size of tumor(s). Participate in CT/Simulation setup to generate same patient position or determine necessary immobilization devices or other treatment needs for daily radiation therapy.

3. Import CT data into treatment planning system for virtual simulation. Contour critical structures in the anatomy of the patient. Perform patient cone down simulations.

4. Responsible for the quality control monitoring of all the equipment used in the planning and delivery of the radiation therapy treatments. Account for geometrical variation in the shape of the irradiated field and report field dosage necessary for each shape and distribution of dose for each setting.

5. Provide clinical support, instruction and supervision to Radiation Therapists and staff when implementing a new treatment to ensure proper administration of radiation treatment plans and setups.

6. Assist the Radiation Oncologist with radiation orders entered into the dosimetry electronic record system called ARIA.

7. Responsible for inputting the appropriate procedure charges for planning/simulation work performed.

8. Knowledgeable in radiation safety and billing procedures and provides department manager with guidance and instructions for maintaining compliance requirements.


Bachelor's degree.


Certified Medical Dosimetrist or board certification eligible preferred.
