**Hospital Sales Representative - Wessex**

**Role Purpose:**

The role of the Hospital Sales Representative is to deliver required sales targets through delivering the Hospital Action Plan, as outlined in the Local Health Economy Plan. This involves calling on key customers in Secondary care, and may also cover non-prescribing influencers. A high level of knowledge of secondary care is required in order to promote products through thorough planning and organising of call activities. The HSR should be seen as the clinical expert. The HSR may also provide support for primary care colleagues where required in order to meet territory and key account plan objectives.

**Role Duties:**

Product Promotion & Sales

+ Promote products to designated customers in order to achieve plan objectives.

+ Arrange customer educational meetings and promotional meetingsCustomer Relations

+ Build relationships with secondary care customers to enhance territory knowledge to gain product endorsement to generate sales.

+ Facilitate strong relationships and links between secondary and primary care customers.Planning and Management

+ Diagnosis of situation of territory e.g. local trust changes, politics, local initiatives leading to subsequent design and implementation of Local Health Economy Plans, including Action plans for all key accounts.Market Intelligence

+ Feedback to local territory team, Managers and Head Office on product performance, relevant competitor activity or local issues to ensure appropriate action can be taken.Teamworking

+ Liasie with territory team members and other HSRs to share information generate action plans and therefore achieve overall team goals.

+ Strong levels of cross functional working within territory and beyond to drive Local Health Economy Plan.

+ Regular and effective communication with all team membersSelf Development

+ Proactively implement and update IDP in order to develop self further within current role or prepare for any future roles.Administrative Systems

+ Ensure territory and administrative systems and processes are maintained and updated to ensure an accurate record of territory and hospitals worked is available at all times. **Required qualifications and experience:**

+ 'A' Level or 'Higher' in science subjects and ideally a Life Science Degree.

+ In-depth promoted product knowledge. In-depth knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas.

+ ABPI qualification.

+ Effective selling skills.

+ Experience in pharmaceutical industry prior to becoming an HSR.

+ Basic Computer ability - e.g. Email /WORD/Excel

+ Effective working knowledge of primary and secondary care NHS structures and relevant customer types.
