Position Summary:

First Home Care has been providing quality Therapeutic Foster Care are since 1991. We provide community-based services for children with a history of out-of-home behavioral health treatment. The First Home Care team has developed an integrated continuum of care which includes Therapeutic Foster Care, School-Based Programming, Alternative Day School and Outpatient Counseling. First Home Care has facilities located in Portsmouth, VA, Richmond, VA, Alexandria, VA, Roanoke, VA.

First Home Care Corporation is comprised of First Home Care (FHC) and Oyster Point Academy. In addition, FHC has a long-standing management agreement with Foundations for Home and Community-a Washington D.C. and Maryland based non-profit corporation.

First Home Care currently has an excellent career opportunity for an experienced Caseworker II to work with our Therapeutic Foster Care program in Roanoke, VA

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following: 

  • Provides overall casework service to children and adolescents referred for therapeutic foster care and/or adoption services. 
  • Coordinates case management activities including planning, placement monitoring, crisis intervention and discharge planning. 
  • Provides support and consultation to therapeutic foster care and adoptive parents, to the families or children and adolescents receiving services and to other members of the treatment team.
 
Requirements

The following are the job requirements for the Caseworker position: 

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in social work or related field. One or more years experience in case management with school system, military agencies, social services, public or private community agencies, churches, civic organizations or the courts working with children and families. 
  • Must possess knowledge of community resources and how to access such resources and network resource building.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Precise documentation skills required. 
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
