Sodexo is seeking a Catering Manager 1 for William Penn University located in Oskaloosa, IA. This is a hands-on catering management role that will have a focus on event set-up, staffing and training, event execution and daily interaction with clients.  Events range from coffee service to large plated dinners for up to 300 people.  During slow times, this manager will assist with Concessions on campus.  This position reports to the General Manager and manages a temporary event staff, depending on size of event.

This position does require physical lifting ability of 20 - 40 pounds when delivering caterings.


Are you the experienced catering manager we’re seeking?

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • college/university/restaurant catering management and/or hospitality experience;
  • experience training and leading a catering management staff;
  • experience managing multiple events and multiple daily priorities;
  • experience with event set up and breakdown;
  • excellent customer service skills;
  • flexibility to work varying hours/shifts as catering needs dictate;
  • solid organizational skills;
  • excellent leadership/team building skills;
  • the ability to handle catering at all levels from students to executives;
  • marketing experience a plus;
  • professional demeanor is required.

Position Summary

Assists in the management of all catered events. Hires, schedules, and trains catering staff. Works with clients/customers to arrange and follow through on all catering details and to ensure all special requests are met. Directs setup for events. Responsible for pricing, billing and resolving customer complaints. Develops menu/costing. May supervise less than two full time employees.


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
