    The Catering Manager 2 reports to and supports the Catering Director (Catering Manager 4) in managing all catering events as well as training and scheduling staff.  DU averages 25 catered events each day – up to over 50 events per day.   This position is the liaison between the catering office, front-of-house staff and back-of-house staff including kitchen.  The purpose of this position is to keep all key areas of the department working cohesively and free of logistical issues.  

     

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Extremely strong catering management and operations experience (3 - 4 years in high end catering/banquet operations environment including solid financial acumen and deep understanding of the technical delivery aspect of catering).
    • Passion for Sustainable practices.
    • Attention to detail and providing exceptional catering service - developing creative options to fit our client's needs.
    • Ability to build and mentor a solid catering team who same level commitment and passion to catering: quality presentation, customer service, professionalism.
    • Ability to multi-task, delegate, and coordinate multiple events at a time and utilize a systems- based approach to meet each event’s time-lines/specifications and quality of product.
    • Experience coordinating the catering trucks – load and deliver to an average of 25 events each day - including event packages, pull list, etc
    • Seeking bilingual candidates; the ability to speak Spanish will assist in managing this workforce.

    Position Summary

    Oversight of catering activities for a small to mid-size location/unit with $500k-$1M in managed catering volume. Medium complexity with a high degree of hands on involvement in catering events. Strong client interaction.
    Key Duties
    - Oversight of Sodexo resources, recipes, systems and use of catering programs to direct daily catering events including; food production, inventory, product deliveries, invoices, and procurement operations.
    - Oversight of the sales process for catering and/or conference service events. Works with client and customers to design events.
    - Ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their job, and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines as assigned.
    - Establishes and maintains a safe work environment including both food and physical safety in order to comply with all regulatory and Sodexo standards in various environments. Drives the Zero Harm mindset.
    - Complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary
    - Supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards
     

     

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED

    Basic Management Experience - 1 year
