Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking a Catering/Concessions Manager 2 for Alcorn State University, located in Claiborne County, Mississippi, seven miles west of Lorman, MS.

 

The school offers programs that lead to the associate, Baccalaureate, Masters and special degrees. Enrollment is 4000 full and part-time students.  The Dining Program consists of Five Retail outlets along with Catering, Concessions and Resident Dining. ASU dining is operated by dedicated managers and employees that value all guests and every meal experience.

 

The catering program includes events that range from box lunches to high-end formal dinners, plus everything in between. Concessions include providing food and service for the Football, Basketball and Baseball home games.

We are seeking candidates that can execute the following:

  • Coordinate logistics, setup/break-down and on-site problem resolution and ensures catered events are set up according to service standards
  • Manage daily Labor Management of Catering Department including schedules and weekly payroll processing
  • Assist in daily coordination of projects including preparing and maintaining project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements
  • Attend weekly Catering and Staff meetings
  • Supervise transportation, supervisors and line employees to ensure quality of set up and service on events
  • Hold pre-event meetings with staff to review the event flow, specific job details, and expectations
  • Treat staff with respect and common courtesy
  • Assume responsibility for handling guest-related issues during an event
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service for all events, clients/customers

Position Summary

Oversight of catering activities for a small to mid-size location/unit with $500k-$1M in managed catering volume. Medium complexity with a high degree of hands on involvement in catering events. Strong client interaction.
Key Duties
- Oversight of Sodexo resources, recipes, systems and use of catering programs to direct daily catering events including; food production, inventory, product deliveries, invoices, and procurement operations.
- Oversight of the sales process for catering and/or conference service events. Works with client and customers to design events.
- Ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their job, and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines as assigned.
- Establishes and maintains a safe work environment including both food and physical safety in order to comply with all regulatory and Sodexo standards in various environments. Drives the Zero Harm mindset.
- Complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary
- Supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards
 

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED

Basic Management Experience - 1 year
