Havenwyck Hospital is a 243 bed, Joint Commission accredited and licensed psychiatric and substance abuse facility overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing behavioral health and substance abuse services to children, adolescents, and adults. Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to join our Recreational Therapy Department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for assessing, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions and discharge leisure planning.
  • Utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's behavior, be-it cognitive, social, emotional or physical. 
  • Educates the client in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources to continue the client in post-discharge leisure planning and involvement. 
  • Evaluates each client's progress and the effectiveness of therapy treatment, and records results on daily progress notes follows all documentation policies.
  • Attends treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team, as well as assisting with the completion of the initial treatment plan and progress summary updates.
Job Requirements

CTRS Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved program required. 
  • Certification by National Certification Board (NCTRC) required for CTRS position.
  • Will also consider Art Therapist
  • Experience in a behavioral health hospital setting preferred.
  • Employee must be in good standing (evaluation/employment history, corrective action, etc.) to be considered for internal transfer.

 

Art Therapist Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Theories of Art Therapy, Counseling or Psychotherapy from an institute identified by the American Art Therapy Association required.
  • The individual must be eligible to take the National Art Therapy Registration (ART) examination and obtain the registration within 2 years of the hire date.
  • Experience in psychiatric setting preferred.
  • Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC) or License Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan preferred.
