The Market CFO, plans, organizes, and directs the fiscal services department, including the development, interpretation, coordination, and administration of the hospital's policies on finance, accounting, insurance, financial/accounting systems, internal controls, and auditing within the Region.

  • Supervises accounting, business office, materials management, medical records, information services, and other departments as assigned. Through department heads and supervisors, monitors department performance. Establishes communication systems to inform and be informed as needed.
  • Supervises the hospital financial reporting process. Supervises the preparation of reports outlining hospital’s financial position and operating profit and loss statement. Supervises the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, hospital association, third party, and other financial reports as required.
  • Maximizes hospital financial performance. Analyzes the profitability of existing hospital operations, product lines, contractual agreements, etc., making recommendations when appropriate for improvement.
  • Manages and develops employees. Through appropriate management practices, creates a hospital climate to motivate employees to highest performance. Establishes direction, coaches employees, provides feedback, and builds commitment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required.

 

 
Requirements


Must possess a working knowledge of GAAP, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, and federal and local tax regulations; knowledge of all business office and other administrative office operations including all processes from registration (pre-registration) through discharge and terminal resolution of the patient bill; knowledge of managed care and other payer processes and agreements, including specific terms for negotiation are required; knowledge of all accounting processes including accounts payable, payroll and general accounting and effective ability to prepare financial statements and operating reports that accurately and timely reflect the entity’s performance.

Must be skilled at interpreting the abstract pieces of financial analysis and performance; preparing schedules and reports, using source data and compiling reports from others’ schedules; skill in use of electronic spreadsheets and ability to manipulate data within proprietary and acquired data bases, using ACCESS, ELCYPSIS, or other data bases; adept at skillfully communicating ideas and facts, packaging information and concepts in a way that increases understanding by others.
