The Vines Hospital is a 98-bed comprehensive behavioral health facility located in beautiful Ocala. We provide 24-hour, 7-day a week services for those dealing with psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues. The Vines provides detox, acute, residential, outpatient and partial hospitalization services for adolescents, adults and seniors. The hospital provides individual, group, and family therapy, as well as community-based services to assist with ongoing recovery.

We currently have a full time opening for a qualified Registered Nurse to work with adults as Charge Nurse on our acute unit. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients on the Adult Unit. The Charge Nurse coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. The Charge Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served. The Charge Nurse is in charge of the unit activities for each shift. The Charge Nurse supervises the Nurses, Lead Mental Health Techs, and Mental Health Techs working on the unit, administers prescribed medications and provides medication and other educational groups.

Work Hours: 3 twelve hour shifts a week, working every other weekend.


1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

2. Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse in psychiatric nursing preferred. One (1) year supervisory experience required. Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration.

3. License/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.

4. Skills: Demonstrated leadership, communication, teaching and management skills.
• Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
• Knowledge of milieu management.
• Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
• Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
• Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
• Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation

5. Physical Requirements: Work is physically and mentally demanding. Extensive walking, standing,
sitting and climbing stairs. Must be able to lift or move over fifty (50) pounds.
