We are looking for a Chef Manager to oversee the daily foodservice within our residence and dining facility at Glendon College Campus of York University in Toronto. Reporting to the Resident District Manager, the Chef Manager will be responsible for the profitable management of these services under contract with the Client. Responsibilities include interaction with the client, customers and employees. Chef Manager will provide vision to growing the business.
Ensure all operating standards are achieved
Coordinate and supervise personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality and cost control, labour, scheduling, staffing and training
Assist front line managers with any operational and staffing issues
Train, develop and manage kitchen and floor personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities
Ensure food quality is consistent and adheres to standards based on Aramark Higher Education Operation Excellence
Maintain floor presence and act as the face of operation for the students
Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation and service of food
Coordinate and supervise personnel regarding production, quality and cost control, labour, scheduling, staffing and training
Ensure that standards for sanitation and food safety are met
Assist in menu planning
Prepare business plans, budgets and forecasts
Monitor financial operating results in order to achieve company and client objectives
Develop new initiatives and programs to improve sales and customer satisfaction
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business sectors and maintain records to comply with Aramark and government standards
Ensure adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures
Ensure adherence to Aramark’s Health and Safety Programs and HR Programs
Post-secondary education in Culinary Management, Hospitality Management or related field
5 years progressive management experience within food service in a similar sized operation
Bilingual skills in French would be an asset
Red seal certification an asset
Management position in the food service industry considered an asset
Must be able to lead a team of 30-40 staff members
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Strong analytical, project planning, and financial management skills
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, colleagues and staff
Knowledge of MS Office
