Job #67692 -Sodexo is seeking a Chef Manager at Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg, VA.  http://www.retire.org/index.php  This is a 500 Resident Comprehensive Retirement Community with Independent & Assisted Living and Skilled Care. Nestled in Virginia’s historic New River Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are in view of Virginia Tech and just minutes from shopping, cultural events, recreational opportunities, restaurants, and Lewis Gale Hospital at Montgomery.

 

In this role, you support our mission of providing safe, wholesome, and innovative food to 300 of our residents in café & catering services.  Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the culinary team and will plan, organize and manage the daily food production in resident dining venues and catering, Oversee daily sales in Café, manage catering billing & collections.  Responsibilities include: Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality, labor and food cost controls and compliance, menu development and inventory management, food safety and sanitation, employee training and resident satisfaction.

 

This position requires a unique culinary passion for fostering relationships with residents / village customers while providing a compassionate and unforgettable dining experience.

 

Your Skills Check List for this position:

Culinary Training and Servsafe Certificate

Working knowledge of HACCP protocols for regulatory compliance

Food production, meal presentation, catering with attention to detail

Experience; inventory management & on-line ordering

Experience creating and developing menus and pricing

Skills to train & develop 6 or more employees; food production & catering

Ability to manage multiple, and at times, competing priorities

Computer skills; food and labor management systems, Menu Graphics

Food and kitchen safety training of staff and self-audits

 

Schedule varies according to events with rotating weekends & d holidays

Responsible for the day to day execution of the menus & culinary deliverables.  May be responsible for smaller units within a multi-location.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
Basic Management Experience - 1 year
