Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking a evening/weekend Chef Manager for Texas A&M Commerce University located in Commerce, TX. Texas A&M University–Commerce is a public research university located in Commerce, Texas. With an enrollment of over 12,000 students as of fall 2017, the university is the third largest institution in the Texas A&M University System. Founded in 1889, the institution is also the fourth oldest state university or college in Texas.   **RELOCATION ASSISTANCE PROVIDED!**

 

This position will have oversight and mentor approximately 30 frontline employees. The ideal candidate must have a passion for food and innovation, help manage the day to day operations, have the ability to proactively deliver excellent service, and hands on client relations.

 

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the ideal candidate should have:

  • Culinary leadership experience in a  high-quality, high-volume food setting.
  • High expectations for customer service and quality of food
  • A good understanding of financials as they to cost controls of food and labor.
  • The ability and willingness to develop and train frontline employees.
  • Availability to work 3 nights a week plus weekends.

  • manage the daily food production including production planning and controls;
  • ensure Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality;
  • manage food costing, controls and compliance;
  • develop menus and manage inventory;
  • have high expectations for customer service and quality of food;
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and train frontline employees;
  • have a passion for food and innovation;
  • have knowledge of special diets and allergens; and
  • knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) is preferred.

 

The ideal candidate has:

  • a strong culinary background, with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends;
  • excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies;
  • previous experience working in a high volume facility; and
  • strong management skills.

Responsible for the day to day execution of the menus & culinary deliverables.  May be responsible for smaller units within a multi-location.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
Basic Management Experience - 1 year
