Position Summary:
Founded in 1986, PRIDE Institute is the nation’s first and leading provider of residential treatment programs and outpatient treatment programs devoted to treating substance abuse and mental health needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. We provide integrated treatment services for adults with chemical dependency, sexual compulsivity, and co-occurring disorders.
  
Our MN DHS Rule 31 residential treatment center is located on a five acre property in Eden Prairie, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis. The property features an outdoor lawn with a fire pit, arbor, and creek, and plenty of wildlife, including deer, turkeys, ducks and geese. The relaxing environment outside is complemented by the natural colors and comfortable furniture indoors. PRIDE Institute’s fitness center and gymnasium help heal the body physically while the program helps clients heal mentally. Our intensive outpatient program is based in the Uptown area of Minneapolis.
  
We strive to provide the best client-centered care by employing and developing highly qualified staff who are trained in working specifically with the LGBT community. Our clinical team, made up of mental health clinicians, therapists, and counselors bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to each individual case. PRIDE’s experienced physicians and nursing staff, consisting of RNs and LPNs, as well as technicians, provide 24/7 medical care to our clients.
 
PRIDE is currently seeking applicants for:
 
CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TECHNICIAN, PRN 
  
Our CD Techs assist with the direct care and management of residential clients as prescribed by the physician, counselors, and treatment team; provide pertinent feedback to the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding client response to therapy, treatment interventions, and therapeutic objectives, as appropriate; provide age specific supervision appropriate to the developmental level and specific treatment needs of the individual client; and ensure the safety of the client population.  Our CD Techs complete 30-minute room checks, take vitals, provide transportation to appointments for clients, and collaborate with other chemical dependency staff professionals in planning for discharge and follow-up care.
 
Ideal CD Tech candidates possess:
 
- Knowledge of chemical dependency and mental health issues or willingness to learn
 
- Knowledge of therapeutic milieu management techniques or willingness to learn
 
- Knowledge and training in CPR and First Aid or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of 12 step programs or willingness to learn
- An awareness of how personal issues relating to co-dependency can impact work performance/relationships
- Qualities of reliability and dependability and a commitment to do what they say they are going to do
- Effective Human Relations skills; the ability to recognize behaviors and set appropriate limits in clear, concise, and non-judgmental terms; the ability to react calmly and effectively in    emergency situations; the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to use good judgment to solve problems; the ability to maintain confidentiality; the ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively with clients and co-workers; and the ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
Our CD Techs report to our Director of Nursing. 
 
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid driver's license in the applicable state required
• One year work experience in a mental health/psychiatric and/or chemical dependency treatment setting preferred
• Must maintain compliance with all hospital annual competencies, as well as CPR and First Aid.
