Description:

Prudential is seeking a hands on Sr Data Architect who will create the next generation data and analytics platform for the Individual Life Insurance line of business. Data architecture and quality is a critical responsibility – requiring the person to be hands on and modernize our legacy data architecture, instrument measurements and define strategies to reduce data redundancy. The person filling this role will partner with the Data strategy team and be responsible for providing strategic thought leadership and measurable, defined outcomes in data strategy and insight and encompassing delivery of products in a defined suite.

 

This role will:

  • Have overall responsibility for Data architecture and Governance from an ILI enterprise perspective. Ownership refers to driving both the data architecture and governance for the operational and analytical data environments, data consumption patterns and design to achieve desired business outcomes
  • Build the strategy, direction and roadmap for data warehousing/lake, business intelligence and analytics for the enterprise/lob
  • Provide technical design leadership with the responsibility to ensure the efficient use of resources, the selection of appropriate technology and use of appropriate design methodologies
  • Develop departmental plans, including business and/or organizational priorities; Decisions are guided by the strategy and priorities of the organization

  • Deep understanding of master data management architecture and applications

Key responsibilities include:

  • Constructing a holistic view of the data infrastructure needed to run the business and collaborate with technology and business partners to incorporate that into their roadmap
  • Developing a long-term vision for creating a cloud-wide reporting and analytics infrastructure
  • Collaborating with the Data strategy team to define third party data acquisition strategy to support business needs
  • Designing the data ingestion architecture
  • Strategic planning and execution of all aspects of data architecture including establishment of current and future state architecture and transformational roadmap in alignment with business strategy
  • Role model technology-leadership by encouraging adoption of tools and solutions that solve for business in a cheaper and faster manner
  • Instituting a data architecture and governance discipline to advance rapid delivery of products and data insights
  • Fostering a work environment that is innovative and fast
  • Communicating effectively across the organization to ensure alignment to the business objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent work experience required
  • 10 years of IT experience with several years in hands on Data Architecture, Modeling and Strategy; with majority of it earned in building enterprise level platforms
    • 10 years of experience with Information Services data solutions implementation
    • 5 years of experience with Enterprise Data warehouse design and implementation
    • 5 years of experience with data architecture across a broad range of solutions
    • 3 years of experience with data management or data integration/conversion
    • 3 years of experience with data modeling, using industry standard tools (i.e. ER Studio, CA Erwin etc.)
    • 3 years of experience with Enterprise Architecture Governance workflow
  • Prior hands on experience with data management platforms used at Prudential (MS SQL, Oracle, IBM Cognos, Tableau, UDB to name a few)
  • Current Industry knowledge of forward looking data technologies (Big Data, Hadoop, MongoDB, In memory DB’s and streaming data)
  • Broad knowledge of Agile project methodology (SAFe) and ITIL best practices
  • Master Data Management platforms and practices preferred
  • Experience with Cloud computing concepts (private, public and hybrid) required
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate across organizations to craft innovative solutions that drive customer-centric outcomes
  • Ability to think strategically and translate plans into phased actions in a fast paced, high pressure environment
  • Strong presentation skills necessary to communicate with, and persuade, a wide range of audiences
  • Experience with scaled systems and understanding of data and system integration; should also have a good understanding of security from a data and process perspective
  • Customer-driven mindset and insatiable appetite for engineering excellence and drive for outcomes
  • Well versed in Industry and Non-Industry trends in technology and business, to provide actionable insights for remaining competitive with technology solutions.
