UHS is currently recruiting for a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for our Valley Hospital Medical Center, located in the heart of Las Vegas, NV.  Valley Hospital is a 320-bed tertiary-care and teaching hospital that offers a comprehensive range of services, including advanced cardiovascular, neurological and surgical services to Southern Nevada residents and visitors. Valley Hospital has achieved nationally-recognized designation as a primary stroke center and an accredited chest pain center. Advanced cardiovascular services include open-heart surgery, balloon angioplasty, cardiac catheterizations and peripheral vascular studies.
Position Summary:
The CNO is a member of the Hospital Executive Team and is responsible for integration, coordination and direction of nursing and patient care within the overall operation of the hospital. He/she directs nursing and patient care to ensure the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care consistent with the mission, vision and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulations, licensing and accreditation requirements. The CNO participates in the hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The CNO promotes a culture of Service Excellence with all customer groups.

Job Requirements

* Certification in a specialty of choice desirable.
* Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of employment.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management. 
* Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and
  patient care activities. 
* Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. 
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Interpersonal skills for working closely with others on a team. 
* Ability to plan, direct. control and monitor others’ activities. 
* Demonstrates leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment. 
* Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships.
* Demonstrated proficiency with common computer based applications such as e-mail, Windows-based programs and various databases.
* Five or more years of nursing management or supervisor experience in a clinical acute care setting. Experience to include fiscal/budget management 
* Occasional US travel to conferences and UHS management meetings.
