What You'll Do

As the Corporate Generalist for Cisco Meraki Business you will take responsibility for legal decision-making and leadership in our business. You will also develop detailed knowledge of the Meraki products, business processes, and go-to-market strategies around the world. You have the ability to support our Product Managers at all stages of the product life cycle and build tight-knit relationships throughout the Cisco Meraki organization and Cisco legal. You will step into a transactional role when Meraki’s sales and channel teams need support in contract negotiations, learn to make fast, smart legal discernments to help our business continue to scale. Who You'll Work With

Cisco has opened up an exciting opportunity for you to join its Legal team directly supporting one of the fastest growing segments of its business—Cisco Meraki—in the role of Corporate Counsel. The position will be located at Cisco vibrant office in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco. We are a small team, so we need a utility player who will identify and take on issues all across our SaaS and hardware business, including product, commercial, support, channel, privacy, HR, and marketing

Who You Are

You are excellent at communicating succinct legal advice to execs and engineers and you have tolerance for accepting legal risk to enable business outcomes. You also have excellent drafting skills—it’s not what we do all day, but it’s essential to the job. You have passion for technology, learning, and the craft of being a lawyer. Being conscientious and responsive are 2 key attributes you possess — generally no need to work nights/weekends, but the business teams will need to be able to count on the support of this role, You also possess a self-deprecating sense of humor and occasionally devastating wit

The minimum requirements for this role are:

  • 3-4 years of law firm practice (and/or in-house roles) in a transactional practice primarily representing technology companies
  • Experience driving complex projects or deals from start to finish
  • Strongly support building a diverse and versatile culture
  • Ability to draft a substantive email in five sentences or less
  • Commute to San Francisco office daily
  • Some travel required in order to provide in-person support to teams in Chicago, London, and Sydney

The additional skills we are looking for are:

  • Experience with SaaS or licensing and one or more privacy law frameworks
  • Experience moving between ‘small company’ and ‘big company’ environments
  • Instruct the rest of the team how to use the fancy coffee machine (we are clueless on this)
