Job Description

The Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and directing the education of Foundations for Home and Community staff. This position is responsible for working in conjunction with HR and Operations to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory education requirements.

Essential Functions:     

  1. Must be able to drive with a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.

  2. Must be able to answer a phone to provide daily management of the office, staff and referral sources for educational services.

  3. Must be able to carry and answer a phone to provide crisis intervention, evaluations, follow up with referral sources, families and schools as needed.

  4. Must be able to work on a computer to develop, implement, analyze and approve licensed required documents.

  5. Must be able to use a fax, copier, or scanner to receive and forward required documents from the legal guardian, parents, referral sources or others as indicated.

  6. Must be licensed as an LPC or LICSW in the District of Columbia

  7. Must be able to read and interpret policy, regulations and guidance to teach, educate and train staff and managers

  8. Be able to read, interpret, process reports, service plans, psychological and other clinical documentation to assess the clinical needs of a client and recommend the level of care needed throughout the student’s placement

  9. Must be able to verbally communicate with referral sources, the client, families and staff; as well as read, interpret reports and regulations, service plans, IEP’s, psychological and other clinical documentation to coordinate the ongoing educational services.

  10. Coordinates training schedule with trainers in conjunction with Human Resources.

  11. Coordinates with HR for training requirements and mandates.

  12. Maintains training modules, supplies, and equipment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:            To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities, who are otherwise qualified, to perform the primary functions.  Must possess knowledge of and ability to develop and implement  curriculum,  special education,  state and federal education regulations,  behavior management  strategies  and de-escalation techniques,  advanced oral and written communication skills.  Must possess basic personal computer skills.


Education:                  Master’s Degree from an accredited University in an Allied Health Field. 



Certification:              LPC or LICSW in the District of Columbia. ‘Train the Trainer’ certification in DBH, UHS, and/or EBPs is preferred.


Experience:                 Four or more years working in a Clinical Management role. Experience with workforce development education is preferred.
