The Corporate IS Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Clinical Informaticist-Pharmacy.

Develops Implements, and support the maintenance of medication-related data within Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), e-prescribing, telepharmacy, bedside bar coding, electronic medication administration records (eMARs), automated dispensing cabinets, inventory management systems, smart pumps, robotic IV automation as part of the UHS Enterprise (Acute Care Hospitals to stand-alone pharmacies).  Leverages technology skills and applied expertise as a pharmacist to maximize Electronic Health Record (EHR) functionality leading to an increase in patient safety for UHS information systems.   Interacts closely with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), corporate Information Technology (IT) team, corporate pharmacy, and corporate nursing to support new projects, optimize existing EHR design and expand innovations for our technology platforms.    

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Serves as liaison to facility representatives to investigate and resolve customer service issues.
  • Provides leadership in development, establishing ownership and maintaining work teams.
  • Collaborates with UHS corporate physicians to address specific customer needs and resolve issues.
  • Coaches and mentors team members and acts as a professional role model.
  • Contributes to performance evaluation of team staff members as needed.
  • Communicates and provides rationale for decisions to other UHS corporate and facility staff.
  • Identifies educational needs and collaborates with education team to design and implement end user education.
  • Provides mechanisms for soliciting ongoing feedback from users and responds and follows-up with concerns in a timely manner.
  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, problems.
  • Develops and maintains communication flows that exceed customer expectations.
  • Plans, facilitates, and evaluates improvements to operational workflow and processes in collaboration with facility clinical leadership.
  • Maximizes effectiveness of applications by understanding available functionality, options and possible alternatives for software in production.
  • Formulates reports, collects and analyzes data to identify trends that improve organizational performance and clinical outcomes.
  • Develops and makes recommendations to modify policies and procedures impacted by information systems.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of trends and issues in healthcare, clinical (Pharmacy) practice, healthcare informatics and Joint Commission standards.
  • Articulates how new technology will impact current processes and procedures for the organization.
Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Licensed pharmacist, Doctorate Degree with 1–3 years experience or Masters Degree with * 3-5 years experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations (3+ years preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Cerner PharmNet (3+ years preferred).
  • Knowledge and understanding of working in a multi-site environment (Preferred).
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy and clinical information systems application design, development, implementation, enhancement, support methods and practices.
  • Ability to work with end users to determine software specifications and process improvement workflows.
  • Ability to create system documentation, project plans, test scripts and education materials.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodology, change control, quality and system performance methods and metrics.
  • General familiarity of end user practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the clinical applications.
  • Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Requires strong analytical, statistical skills, and interpretive abilities to make recommendations for improvements or changes.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to resolve complex clinical, people, process and technology issues.
  • Requires the ability to act independently and complete projects from beginning to end with minimal supervision
  • Professional demeanor and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff on clinical and information technology matters and on policy and procedural matters.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

 

Travel Requirements: Position will require travel to acute care hospitals for support and system implementation activities.  Travel could be up to 25%.
