The Clinical Pharmacist Liaison is a home-based telecommuter position. Preference will be given to candidates who are based in Central U.S.
The Clinical Pharmacist Liaison is the owner of the development and maintenance of clinical support and regulatory compliance programs related to drug utilization management for select key accounts.  This position is focused strongly on the analytic services required to support key accounts with regard to their understanding of drug safety issues, drug utilization issues and the internal programming.  This role will focus primarily on claims data analysis, financial and utilization goal setting, state regulatory compliance and the interfacing of existing and future clinical programs into the key client’s relationships.
 
This position will assist with the overall stewardship of key clients’ medication and Pharmacy services utilization.  This person will be a key contributor within the Pharmacy Services Department and will be involved in all aspects of:
  • Setting the strategic direction of the key account(s) in which they have been assigned
  • Maintaining operational clinical integrity of the account(s)
  • Providing support to the Sales and Marketing team
  • Providing support to Account Executives assigned to the key account(s)
  • Working with the leadership team of Clinical Services in designing and implementing cost savings programs
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and clinical support for business and clinical aspects of the relationship with key accounts
    • Provide clinical direction and development strategy for pharmacy initiatives and service offerings to key clients
    • Provide Formulary Reviews relevant to the drug utilization of key clients
    • Participate in client-facing panel meetings such as client webinars, educational sessions and onsite client presentations
  • Ensure that client relations operate in accordance with JCAHO, URAC and other relevant regulatory agencies
    • Interface with the Compliance Department to assist client with jurisdictional and corporate state regulations
    • Interact with the regulatory agencies as required for client-specific filings or compliance requirements
  • Develop and foster positive internal cross-functional relationships (Specialty Services, Account Management, Sales, IT)
    • Assist in the growth and outbound messaging of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
    • Maintain membership on the Quality Improvement Committee
    • Coordinate inter-department activities as needed for operations and clinical services
    • Provide clinical insight for ongoing reporting of peer and pharmacist review programs
    • Provide clinical insight for future programs regarding Predictive Modeling and Trends Report publication
    • Provide ongoing drug information and education
    • Evaluate drug therapy policies and procedures
    • Perform internal review of safety issues, DUR edits, etc
  • Maintain positive business relationships with vendors, consultants, governmental agencies, with ongoing participation in these areas:  NCPDP, AMCP and NACDS
    • Periodically consult with client-specific practitioners in the field and solicit feedback from specialists as needed for special cases as identified by key clients
    • Maintain a presence in the professional pharmacy community with membership in appropriate organizations (examples may include AMCP, NACDS, APHA, NCPDP, etc)
    • Maintain Registered Pharmacist licensure and exhibit continued, measureable, professional development
    • Participate in advisory boards for professional growth and continuing education
    • Publications on Workers’ Compensation industry trends and successful internal programming as appropriate for outside consumption
  • Assist Director of Clinical Services to represent the Company with internship programs at local colleges of Pharmacy and AMCP
    • Work with student interns to support and develop client-focused pharmacy education presentations
    • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for current and future rotation & residency programs such as those with The University of Georgia, Mercer University and the AMCP/Pfizer Summer Internship program
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
  • Current unrestricted Registered Pharmacist license (any state)
  • 3+ years working as a Clinical Pharmacist (not Fulfillment only)
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Outlook and Office including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PharmD degree
  • Experience working within a PBM or Managed Care
  • Client facing or Clinical Account Management experience
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting large amounts of pharmacy transactional and historical data
  • Experience in developing/maintaining preceptor programs a plus
