UnitedHealthcare Clinical Services is currently seeking a Clinical Process Consultant to manage end to end process improvement and clinical adherence projects supporting delegated Primary Medical Groups (PMGs).  The right candidate is a self-starter, a skilled communicator and facilitator, a willing mentor, an advocate for change, and eager to motivate others to achieve deliverables in support of growth and quality initiatives.  Experience designing collection methods and analyzing both large and small data sets establish a foundation for success in this position.


Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Coordinate and complete end to end process improvement projects across clinical functional areas within the defined constraints of scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources and risks
  • Builds collaborative relationships and ongoing communication with internal and external customers to facilitate improved outcomes
  • Support white glove project communication, foster excellent stakeholder engagement, and prepare and present project and progress updates that exceed the expectations of senior leadership
  • Assist stakeholders in defining performance metrics and capturing project results.
  • Provides data and rationale to explain alternative options or processes to improve overall outcomes
  • Investigate non-standard requests and problems, secure resolution buy-in, and support solutions
  • Makes and provides determinations regarding future costs for risk assessment for new and renewed business
  • Balances clinical and business outcomes and priorities to make recommendations for improved customer outcomes
  • Ensure project documentation is timely, accurate and aligned with departmental standards
  • Review and synthesize evidence, including anecdotal feedback, to identify and mitigate project and performance risks
  • Prioritize work load to support ad hoc projects as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of project management experience  
  • 2+ years’ experience in tracking, planning projects, working with large data sets and making data-driven analytical decisions
  • 2+ years of managed care experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Root Cause / Pareto analysis and data analysis
  • 2+ years’ experience with SQL server
  • Demonstrated familiarity with PMBOK, Six Sigma, LEAN and other project management methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and project constraints clearly and concisely
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Graduate degree
  • 5+ years managed care experience
  • Recognized Project Management certification complete or in progress (PMP, Six Sigma)
  • 2+ years’ experience in a Project Management Office (PMO)
  • Training and Presentation experience
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and with other team members
