Job Description

School Based Services Program Manager



  • Ensure continual growth of the school-based program by marketing to new school
  • Foster existing school relationships by providing outreach throughout the school year
  • Assign clinicians to schools as appropriate
  • Provide supervision to interns and pre-licensed clinicians pursuing an LMHC
  • Participate in recruitment activities
  • Coordinate the LMHC internship program
  • Provide fee-for-service individual and/or group counseling in the clinic
  • Complete diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans
  • Coordinate treatment with referral sources and collaterals
  • Respond appropriately to client crises


For nearly 20 years, Arbour Counseling Services has offered a clinical program designed to provide behavioral health services to students. This program is administered within the school setting during school hours by Arbour therapists working closely with designated school staff. The services are provided to pre-school through 12th grade students in school systems within the catchment areas of the Arbour Counseling Services sites, all located in Eastern Massachusetts. Students may be referred for evaluation by their parents, teachers, guidance counselors, or by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.

Program components include psychological, neuropsychological and educational testing and evaluations; individual and group therapy, including specialized groups; on-going consultations with parents and school personnel, and clinical consultation to teachers, aides, school psychologists and guidance counselors. Arbour Counseling Services also offers in-service training to administrators, teachers, special-needs staff and support personnel on topics requested by school staff.

Program Development Consultation to teachers and staff is provided by the clinician delivering therapy at the schools. Consultation is available for school administrators, school psychologists, and student support coordinators through a clinical consultant provided by Arbour Counseling Services. 



Areas of consultation include, but are not limited to:

  • Integrating special needs children into the mainstream classroom 
  • Classroom management 
  • Creative assessment tools 
  • Staff training on clinical issues
Job Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Psychology
  • LMHC or Licensed Psychologists required
  • Minimum of three years post LMHC licensure experience preferably in a community health setting
  • Previous experience as clinical supervisor and/or program manager preferred
  • Requires local travel by car – must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families
  • Ability to manage crisis
  • Must be CANS certified to treat individuals under age of 21
