Texoma Medical Center, a 288-bed acute care facility has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. Our main campus is located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. Position Summary: Codes and abstracts inpatient and outpatient records using appropriate ICD-9-CM and CPT classification system.  Inpatient coder reviews charts for admission appropriateness and severity of illness.  Outpatient coder codes outpatient charts, checks medical necessity and works closely with business office.  MUST HAVE HOPSITAL CODING EXPERIENCE.


Requires 1 year coding experience or will consider education from an approved AHIMA Coding course or HIM college program.  MUST HAVE HOSPITAL CODING EXPERIENCE.  Preferred RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA or eligible.  Must be skilled in ICD-9-CM/CPT with knowledge of Prospective Payment/DRG, APC system plus knowledge of computer systems.   Requires the ability to communicate effectively with other departments and medical staff. Knowledge of 3-M encoder. Windows experience helpful, but not required.
