Job summary: The Self-Funded Sales Account Executive (AE) reports to the Vice President of Sales and is responsible for prospecting and acquisition of new business in the administration of self-funded health plans (ASO) to include medical and dental administration and ancillary products.

 This individual is primarily accountable for new business sales. The AE builds and maintains relationships with Broker/Consultants, Agencies, reinsurance carriers, MGU's, business organizations and Customers within the self-funded healthcare industry.

 The Self-Funded Sales AE is primarily responsible for developing new business sales growth, but also assists in the retention of business as required in conjunction with business working relationships working closely with the Director of Operations, Claims Manager, Customer Service Manager and Administrative Services Manager.

The Self-Funded Sales AE position is one of the most public of positions due to the constant interaction with agents, brokers, agencies, customers, business organizations and the public. Therefore, this position requires highly developed sales skills, public speaking skills, and written and verbal communication skills, persuasion skills, along with good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Job Requirements

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Three years’ experience in a sales position with a managed care organization, health insurance carrier, or related industry.
  • Knowledge of ERISA and stop loss.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Communications or Business.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Current Auto Insurance and reliable vehicle for local travel to clients/brokers.
  • Must possess or obtain within one month from the date of hire, State of Nevada Insurance License for life and health.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.


·                     Excellent computer skills.

·                     Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Power Point, and Excel.

·                     Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

·                     Proven track record for meeting sales or production goals and objectives.

·                     Experience with national and regional accounts in the sale and servicing of health care and other employee benefit programs.
