The Business Entity

The Commercial Finance Analyst will be responsible for managing, supporting and coordinating the deal structuring, review and approval process related to accounts and/or geographies that are part of the Greater China Region. The Commercial Finance Analyst will become an integral part of the sales efforts around deal management, working closely with Area VPs, Client Directors, Finance, and many other internal and external stakeholders involved in a potential business transaction. The Commercial Finance Analyst will become exposed to many disciplines within the business and will play a critical role by managing complex, non-standard, business opportunities.

Role & Responsibilities


As the candidate should be part of the account planning and part of the customer negotiations, candidates from other organizations different from finance may bring significant value to this exciting opportunity to be at the front end of the business. This role is part of the broad finance organization but financial knowledge or background is not a requirement. Business Knowledge, Cisco Knowledge, Negotiation and Communication Skills are a plus for any candidate.

The candidates must display significant judgment skills to ensure that Cisco optimizes its margins, effectively mitigates risks, while remaining commercially competitive

The Commercial Finance Aanalyst will become a strong business partner and trusted advisor for the Sales and Finance Management teams, and will ensure consistent end-to-end management of non-standard deals in alignment with Cisco non-standard deals policies and procedures.

1.  Deal review and structuring:
• Act as the Business Partner for Sales team in deal structuring and obtaining assurances from various functions in Finance, Operations, and Legal
• Collaborate with the VSS Commercial Office representative in Region to ensure consistency in the preparation and presentation of the financials to be able to route to the My Deal Manager (MDM) Approvers
• Work with cross-functional teams on deal solutions: Sales, Sales Finance, Legal, Cisco Capital, Corporate Revenue, Product Management, Engineering, Delivery, Logistics.
• Potential involvement in sales contract negotiation and approval.

2. Obtaining all of the necessary Business Unit (BU) and My Deal Manager deal Approvals:
• Work hand in hand with VSS finance on receiving BU approval on deals, including ensuring that BU VAP approvals are obtained
• Route deals in MDM to the appropriate GSP EDEM Approvers in Region and obtain their approvals before releasing pricing to Sales for presentation to Customers

3. The role supports a global business and therefore requires working across time zones on occasion with VSS Business Leaders in the US or in the UK or in Israel, although the main focus will be in-Region.

4. Must consistently re-enforce Cisco’s need for compliance to standard business practices and Company policies while balancing the requirements of Sales desire to serve the Customer.

Desired Skills and Experiences:


Good communicator across the diverse functions identified above, good technical financial skills (for example, general understanding of cost, margin, price, compliance, etc.), good Excel spreadsheet skills, good negotiation skills preferred, but not essential. Successful CF team members have common-sense business focus, a consultative style, and the ability to set and manage priorities.  Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience to include developing financial models for Commercial deals, working with sales teams, and participating in contract negotiations.  MBA/CPA beneficial.
