Job Description

PepsiCos Frito-Lay division is seeking an enthusiastic public relations professional to join its communications team. This highly visible position will be responsible for day-to-day planning, editorial scoping, execution and measurement of Frito-Lays social media/digital community management efforts. This role requires a high level of strategic thinking, independent decision making and ability to partner with other communications team members and cross-functional partners to drive results. The ideal candidate must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. He/she also must possess a deep understanding of existing and emerging social media/digital channels, including trends and analytics; excellent written and verbal communications skills; and, a strategic and creative mindset.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve as lead community manager for all Frito-Lay social media channels, responding to consumer comments and queries in a timely manner, as a way to help build a community of brand advocates online
  • Set and implement engaging social media campaigns that align with corporate reputation/brand-building strategies
  • Develop engaging copy for a variety of social media channels
  • Organize and participate in events to build social media community and boost brand awareness among influencers
  • Liaise with a variety of cross-functional partners to stay updated on company initiatives and new products that can be shared through social media channels
  • Stay up-to-date with digital technology/social media trends
  • Lead regular digital training sessions, provide best practice communications, develop and update digital guidelines/checklists per PepsiCo and FTC requirements, and create training materials, as needed
  • Build and implement paid social media campaigns that align with Frito-Lay/PepsiCo business/reputation efforts
  • Monitor for potential issues or opportunities, collaborating with PR colleagues and cross-functional partners to develop response plans, as needed


  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in communications, journalism or business
  • 4+ years of previous experience managing digital and social media programs
  • Strong understanding of social media, including new and emerging channels
  • Proficiency with social media/digital analytics tools and processes to lead community management efforts (e.g., Spredfast, BrandWatch)
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to represent the company among a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to develop materials under extremely tight timelines, and communicate clear messages in 280 characters or less
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated results with program development and project management from beginning to end
  • Team player who works well among a diverse team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously
