 Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a customer oriented Consulting Engineer for Innovation Center Toronto who will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing technical information and design/implementation guidance to customers &ecosystem partners who desire to engage with the Innovation Centre.

  • Provide customers and industry technology/solution vendors knowledge across the broad Cisco portfolio, including software and services.

  • Provide guidance on how solutions can be most effectively integrated with Cisco architectures

  • Evaluate partners solutions and recommend how best to align with Cisco technology roadmap and provide guidance on fit for solution within Innovation Centre portfolio

  • Help design and build infrastructure to customize demonstrations solutions in our Featured Vertical room to highlight solutions with Cisco and Partner technology to demonstrate the “Art of the Possible”



  • 5 to 7 years or equivalent experience in markets where Cisco competes

  • Minimum 2 years field technical sales experience, working as a Systems Engineer or related field experience with customer interaction

  • Focuses greater product knowledge in those that fit into solutions commonly used in customer's environment

  • High level knowledge of product roadmaps in the near term

  • Expand technical knowledge to other key technologies like Security, Cloud, Data Center, Collaboration, and Programmability

  • Develop expert understanding of Cisco architectures and services applying to their vertical / customer

  • Knows how and where to obtain competitive information relative to major competitors

  • Keep current on the technological capabilities and limitations of key competitors with respect to Cisco products

  • Ability to correctly position our products in relation to competitive offerings

  • Know when to collaborate and when to compete with other key providers in an account.

  • Increases in-depth of specialization knowledge; may be used by other team members to assist in answering questions

  • Lead simple opportunities related to their specialization

  • Participate in the creation of a Territory Account Plan / Technical Account Plan by providing input on local market demand

  • Learn about customer business requirements from customer, AM, or SEs to participate in planning strategy

  • Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with partners

  • Knows who are the key partners in customer account

  • Proactively helps partners with Bill of Materials, RFP, RFQ responses, and overall position partner into account helping to close opportunities through selected partner

  • Understand how and when to navigate TAC process and CAP case scenarios

  • Understand and educate and coach the customer / partner on the Cisco post-sales (including TAC, PSTS) process and escalation process

  • Collaborate with the Account Manager(s) and engages additional resources (e.g. consulting specialists, demo labs, etc.) to recommend, develop, and propose appropriate customer solutions.

  • Establish collaborate relationships with internal resources such as BU(s), Cisco Services, and SE technical specialists and external resources such as key Partners in your territory.

  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of key customers and industries in your specialty, to gain clear understanding of key technical drivers and market issues

  • Able to demonstrate comprehension by having conversations of emerging areas like Cloud and Network Programmability

  • Able to demonstrate a Proof of Concept for a proposed solution

  • Identify specialization and join an appropriate VT

  • Technical conversations
