About the Role and Who You’ll Work With

The SLED CSE, Cloud Security at Cisco is part of an elite technical pre-sales team responsible for driving the success of our cloud-delivered security solutions.  Join us in the most exciting segment in Cisco’s SLED team – the Cloud Security Group!  This position presents an opportunity to stand out from the pack by giving you career building visibility leadership & experience across the Cisco SLED team, Partner community and IT Industry.  The Cloud Security team is part of Cisco’s Global Security Sales Organization (GSSO) - GSSO is taking big steps to position Cisco as the #1 IT Security provider in the industry. In addition to having the right market conditions, capabilities, products and services, we need the right people to take us there. The Cisco SLED CSE is responsible for presenting, demonstrating and architecting solutions to solve the cyber security needs for State and Local governments, Higher Education institutions and larger K-12 districts. The ideal candidate should be highly accomplished with web security, networking and cloud technology (SaaS).

You must be a self-starter, act as an industry subject matter expert, and strive to help Cisco make customers for life. What You’ll Do


•    Be part of an early stage segment within the SLED Cloud Security Business with massive future growth opportunities and upward mobility within Cisco
•    Create a sustainable, scalable line of business for Cloud Security while meeting or exceeding agreed sales targets across the Cloud Security SLED team.
•    Participate in technical sales calls and contribute to creating sales and evaluation strategy at the account level.
•    Work with other teams as part of x-functional initiatives to present emerging competitive threats, product direction, key technical issues, strategic Sales opportunities, ensuring future solutions meet customer requirements and address current in field obstacles.
•    Assist with the successful preparation and transition of new customers into the Customer Success program.

Key Activities and Metrics

•    Objective #1 is to exceed our sales targets in SLED Cloud Security.  Plain and Simple.
•    Analyze and technically qualify sales opportunities, responding to bids and proposals
•    In depth product presentations, demonstrations and management of prospect evaluations.
•    Articulate the high-level benefits of the full Cisco Security architecture to our target audiences (typically senior security management up to CISO and CIO).
•    Partner with Sales to develop strategies that will help meet or exceed Sales targets for prospective agencies
•    Construct best practices for presentations, demos, and Proof of Value exercises as well as overall win strategy.
•    Assist in the delivery of technical training modules to Cisco Sales and SE representatives in your region, including on-going development of the team.

Who You Are

•    Must have an appetite to trail-blaze in Cloud Security within the SLED market
•    A positive attitude and friendly outgoing personality.
•    Must have solid industry practical knowledge within security and cloud environments.
•    Knowledge of the broader threat landscape and the ability to extract technology trends, explain complex behaviors in simple terms.
•    Strong work ethic, flexible and willing to travel throughout the region (Central US Region).
•    Proven track record of managing and winning technical high value IT security opportunities.

Required Personal Characteristics

•    Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent.
•    5+ years in a comparable pre-sales position supporting the sales cycles (Networking or Security solutions a plus).
•    Sales or vendor experience in a pre or post-sales capacity with SLED institutions
•    Demonstrable experience winning high-value customers and driving company impacting projects.
•    Comprehensive understanding of networking technology
•    Working knowledge of cloud-based platforms (e.g.: Google G-Suite, Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Okta, OneLogin, Dropbox, Box, etc.)
•    Love and passion for helping customers and delivering satisfaction even when faced with difficult customers.

Desired / Good to Have


•    3 years of enterprise Pre-Sales experience working directly with advanced threat or cloud security products.
•    Demonstrable experience with scripting languages such as Python, and API frameworks such as REST / SOAP.
•    Prior experience of Cisco Security or other vendor Cloud Security solutions is advantageous.
•    Strong network security skills that would include hands-on experience with OpenDNS/Umbrella, Checkpoint, Cisco, Juniper, Bluecoat along with other appropriate certifications (e.g. CISSP, CCSE, GCFW, JNCIS-SEC/JNCIP-ENT, GCIH, CEH etc).
•    Advanced level network technology certifications (e.g. CCNP, CCIE, CCSP, JNCIE etc).
