Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
Creates instructional courses, assessments, and job aids for Home Depot associates. Creates training deliverables for the Home Depot environment by applying instructional design and adult learning principles and strategies on medium to high complexity projects. Creates deliverables for all phases of the course creation lifecycle. Translates business requirements into learning requirements and project scope for a single course or a group of courses on medium to high complexity projects. Conducts peer reviews of deliverables by Associate Instructional Designers and Instructional Designers. Involved in developing and managing workplans and curriculum maps. Provides client management and performance consulting to business units. Knows standard eLearning development tools and software.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 20%-Translates business requirements into learning requirements and project scope.
  • 20%-Creates learning objectives, assessment items, and determines instructional strategies to best teach learning objectives. Assists in the development of workplans, curriculum maps, and deployment plans.
  • 20%-Creates instructor guides, participant guides, self-paced print courses, online assessments, and job aids.
  • Develops pilot plans, conduct pilots, and revises materials as needed
  • 20%-Coordinates internal and external subject matter experts to obtain required job and task information.
  • 10%-Assists in providing client management and performance consulting to business units.
  • 10%-Conducts peer reviews of deliverables for instructional quality and soundness.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Position reports to Director, Learning
  • Position has no direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
1 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, HR Development, Organizational Behavior and Development, Industrial and Organizational Psychology or related field.
  • 2-4 years in Learning field
  • Experience creating training materials for contact center organizations
  • Articulate Storyline and Presenter
  • Adobe Captivate

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Proficient knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theories
  • Proficiency with software including MS Word and MS Powerpoint
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles and MS Project
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Framemaker software
