The Content Strategist will work with product managers and merchants to understand how content can support our business objectives and provide the best experiences for our customers. This role will also collaborate closely with various teams to sketch, design, audit content on web pages, audit deliverables for content and ensure UX needs and business objectives are met. The Content Strategist will be responsible for developing and evolving content standards, content and messaging strategies, best practices and processes. This position will help align the content strategy across all channels to drive business value and support an optimal digital experience for the customer.

UX Team - Who are we?

We are the Digital Experience team for Home Depot. We carved out our own design studio among the pines and hills of Atlanta, one of the country’s top cities, and created a culture to build the best mobile and web experiences in the industry. Home Depot’s online team combines a broad range of creative talent including visual & interaction design, information architecture, content strategy, media production, and analytics. Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:
  • 50%-Collaborating with User Experience and Creative to evolve the user experience, develop content direction, and support the team through hands on writing, content audits, and providing quality assurance
  • 30%-Develop and evolve content standards, content and messaging strategies, best practices and processes.
  • 10%-Build and maintain relationships with Merchandising, Usability, SEO, technology, copywriters, online editors, photographers, partner agencies and other vendors.
  • 10%-Develop roadmap for Content Strategy based on user research and benchmarking.

Nature and Scope:
  • Position Reports to Manager, User Experience
  • This position has no direct reports

Environmental Job Requirements:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
3 years

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. or B.A. in Communications, Journalism, English, or Library Science
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in developing and managing content in a digital environment while positioned as a Content Strategist
  • Previous ecommerce experience at national-level ecommerce site
  • Deep knowledge of mobile, web, and ecommerce design trends and technologies
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competences:
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross functional team; consistently demonstrating effective management of shifting priorities, delivering thorough work products, and meeting project deadlines
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills; Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand designs and visual elements
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to concept, present and execute; Act as an exemplary representative of the online experience team in its dealings with internal clients and external vendors with the ability to interact comfortably with executives at highest levels of the company
  • Ability to provide creative solutions consistent with industry trends, demonstrating ability to problem solve
