Responsible for managing, development, implementation and communication of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and other external regulations and requirements. Works closely with global Control teams to ensure understanding of policies and to review transactions to satisfy applicable accounting requirements and arrive at practical and effective solutions. Ensures all transactions the Company enters into are properly accounted for in accordance with US GAAP requirements and also assists with any significant accounting matters. Responsible for coordinating with other Corporate teams and ensuring that the extensive analysis of accounting and reporting issues to reach solutions that satisfy requirements are practical to implement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance on accounting interpretation and prepare or review white papers/position papers on US GAAP matters. Ensure appropriate documentation of accounting treatment of complex and highly judgmental areas, including analysis, relevant literature and conclusions. Interact directly with KPMG and external advisors
  • Proactively influence accounting standards setting process, evaluating and communicating impact to PepsiCo senior management (through CCR, FEI, etc.)
  • Provide technical training to Sector Control teams and other areas of the company impacted by changes in policy or process. Serve as initial contact for inquiries related to the implementation of accounting policies and other technical accounting matters.
  • Develop/update/maintain PepsiCo's Financial Policy Manual (FPM) and work with Sector Control teams to implement guidance
  • Develop and implement best practices by leveraging relationships with KPMG, peer companies and other external advisors
  • Oversee Corporate Control review of annual impairment of goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible assets
  • Oversee Corporate Control review of SAB 108 submissions
  • Oversee Corporate Control review of PepsiCo's Annual Proxy Statement
  • Oversee Corporate Control review of monthly Capital Appropriations Requests (CARs)
  • Oversee quarterly issues calls with Sector Control teams
  • Maintain adequate internal control process for Sarbanes Oxley attestation by external auditors
  • Manage a team of two individuals
  • Lead any other ad hoc projects as needed


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA, required

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in accounting/auditing
  • \"BIG 4\" experience required
  • Mix of public and private experience preferred
  • Seasoned judgment
  • Technical master with pragmatic approach
  • Strong professional network
  • Strong communication skills - excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong project planning and management skills
  • Team player - highly energetic and able to interact with all levels in the organization
  • Must be willing and able to travel 5-10% of the time.
