Fremont Hospital is seeking for a Part-Time Cook to join our Dietary Services team.

Position Summary:

The Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for patients and facility staff according to the approved menu cycle and production sheets.

  • Stocks production areas for efficient daily operation.
  • Reads menu to estimate food requirements.
  • Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
  • Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes.
  • Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork to determine degree of doneness.
  • Displays knowledge and follows all procedures in sanitation and sanitary food handling.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized using soap and sanitizing agents.
  • Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
  • Loads or unloads trucks picking up or delivering food and/or supplies.
  • Supervises other cooks and kitchen employees, if in a lead cook capacity.
Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred, or equivalent experience, Formal culinary training or degrees in culinary arts are preferred.  Must have at least one (1) years’ experience in quantity cooking, a basic knowledge of modified diets; training in food service sanitation and possession of food service sanitation certificate as required; experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and utensils.

Additional Requirements:  You may be required to successfully complete the Fremont Hospital’s non- violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training course within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting with preventative intervention measures.  You may be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
