Corona Regional Medical Center is a 238-bed hospital facility on two campuses, providing comprehensive healthcare services.  It is fully accredited by The Joint Commission, employs over 1100 trained healthcare workers, and has a Medical Staff of approximately 350 physicians representing over 40 specialties.

Essential Job Duties:

Is knowledgeable in practices of sterile techniques and infection control throughout the facility.

Follows through on all reports of infection control issues and concerns.

Able to perform surveillance activities in the absence of the IP Director

Performs environment of care rounds, isolation rounds and hand hygiene observations.

Tracks, reviews and records all hospital acquired infections throughout the facility.

Consistently tracks and records all exposures throughout the facility. 

Identifies annual infection control surveillance targets

Reports necessary MDRO and HAI’s to CDPH and CMS via NHSN

Uploads surgical and demographic data to NHSN

Review monthly dialysis culture results and reports discrepancies to the Director

May perform other duties as directed by the IP Director.

A working knowledge of hospital policies and microbiological technologies.

Must possess knowledge of the principles of epidemiology, infection control regulations, and standards to meet hospital, licensing, and accreditation in infection control standards.

Job Requirements

Knowledge of hospital functions relative to patient, visitors, and hospital personnel concerning infection control issues.

Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in Infection Prevention and Control.

Must have a minimum of 1 formal course/training in Infection Prevention and Control (through APIC, CDC or PH)

High School Diploma required.

Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

LVN preferred

APIC membership

Eligible and/ or working towards eligibility to sit for certification in Infection Control (CIC) in the next 2 years strongly preferred.
