Job Description

Assist in the coordinating, implementing and evaluating the South Texas Health System’s (STHS) Performance Improvement initiatives.  Maintain the standards, policies and procedures associated with the Performance Improvement initiatives as set forth by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Joint Commission, TMF and other regulatory bodies and STHS.  Serve as a resource person related to quality/PI initiatives to hospital employees/physicians/senior management. Assist in analyzing the HBIPS core measure data and generate monthly reports to identify successes and areas for improvement. Maintain public reported reports (Quality, Core Measure, QNet,) and presented such report results to appropriate committee meetings and directors/senior leaders. Understand the UHS Scorecard and it’s linkages to quality studies and measurement.  Participate in six sigma quality projects and other quality control functions for STHS. Assist in developing PI activities based on staff, departmental, facility and system needs to assure quality practices are met.  Perform one-to-one contact with nursing staff and/or physicians associated with opportunities for improvement. Compose correspondence letters to physicians and other as it pertains to core measure indicators and/or results of such indicators. Assist with preparations such as power point presentations, packet copying/assembly for assigned meetings. Assist with the annual Quality Risk Assessment and utilize the results to assist in developing the PI Plan for the next year.  Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


  1. Current Registered Nurse’s license in the state of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent one.BSN preferred.

  2. Must have and maintain current BLS certification, according to unit specific needs.  Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for   Healthcare Provider’s Program.

  3. Must be able to travel between STHS facilities as needed in position.
