Aiken Regional Medical Centers

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 259-bed acute care facility providing quality healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities. Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. Services provided at the hospital include emergency medical care, orthopedic surgeries, maternity, and behavioral health services.


Coordinator - Surgical Materials

Promotes the most effective use of hospital funds in the acquisition of medical devices and products.  Remains abreast of market conditions and trends and assists in evaluating medical devices and products.  Identifies and promotes through implementation specific short and long range commodity cost containment initiatives and standardization programs through the organization’s Value Analysis program. Facilitates communication between Surgical Services department, materials management and the central purchasing function for material needs.  Authorized agent for the hospital’s equipment and product repair function coordinating shipping, monitoring and receiving repair actions. Assists with acute care clinical and non-clinical purchasing and expense management processes.


 Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides quality customer service as a representative for the institution by means of communication with/through vendor representative, telephone or email.  Maintains good hospital image and supplier relations through daily business contacts. Insures outside representatives follow hospital onsite visitation  policy.
  • Manages and reviews the storeroom orders and resolution reports, as well as CPO communication regarding product shortages/backorders, substitutions, and discontinuations.  Communicates with affected departments and coordinates replacement product through approved contract sources to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Assists the Supply Chain director with product recall management and follow up reporting.
  • Coordinates contract conversions that impact stock items within the storeroom and the nursing PAR distribution areas.
  • As part of the Materials Management team, works in liaison with the central purchasing office to resolve purchase order issues, concerns and communicates expedited requests. Coordinates between AP and the CPO to resolve invoice discrepancies and PO adjustments.
  • Coordination of contract approval and implementation process through the UHS contract management portal.
  • Edits and reviews department PAR forms. Requests new items and vendor adds through SharePoint, as needed.
  • Coordination of the process to ensure accuracy of the storeroom perpetual inventory by efficient utilization of Materials Management techniques in purchasing, receiving, and distribution.


Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelors degree in Business related field preferred.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Purchasing, Contracting, Inventory Management or Clinical experience in healthcare required.
  • Must have good clerical, analytical, and communication (verbal, written and listening) skills.  Knowledge of computer operations and ability to accurately enter and evaluate information through Microsoft Office programs is required.  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word is desired.
