The Corporate Counsel will serve as global product counsel and the primary legal advisor for pharmaceutical products within the Pfizer Innovative Health Business Units. The Corporate Counsel role will provide legal guidance and counsel to business and functional teams in a matrixed corporate environment that requires effective communication (verbal and written) and collaboration with business leads, internal legal subject-matter experts and key functional stakeholders.


Operate as the functional lead counsel for assigned product(s) on a global basis and in a leadership capacity to provide strategic and effective legal counseling and recommendations to a broad range of clients on issues including commercial, medical, corporate affairs, clinical and safety for a key asset within Pfizer Innovative Health group.

The Corporate Counsel should have a good understanding of the product strategic plan and initiatives, collaborate with team to develop creative and thoughtful solutions taking into account the legal, regulatory and business environment, Pfizer policies and procedures and the current and future anticipated needs of the business.

A successful candidate should demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, creativity and thoughtfulness, and exercise sound judgment. Exhibit a high degree of professionalism and independence.


+ Demonstrated leadership ability, communication and interpersonal skills to work in a highly matrix and dynamic organization

+ Strong academic background, Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree

+ 3+ years legal and/or compliance in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a focus on regulatory law and commercial/medical-related matters.

+ Demonstrated ability to grasp statutory and regulatory concepts quickly, and to proactively identify and analyze potential legal issues and provide thoughtful and creative business-focused legal advice and solutions.

+ Proven capacity to cultivate strong client relationships and successfully influence leadership in a fast-paced, innovative business climate.

+ A thorough understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks governing the sales and marketing of approved medicines, and regulatory framework for investigational medicines.

+ Ability and willingness to:

+ Gain deep understanding of business strategies and actively counsel on business and legal approaches and opportunities

+ Devise and deliver tailored education programs to key client groups on a range of legal, policy and compliance matters

+ Anticipate, develop and advocate on important regulatory policy and external environment matters impacting Pfizer's business objectives

+ Build networks throughout the Pfizer Legal Division and the company, and receive feedback from fellow legal colleagues and business colleagues

+ Track record of accountability and sound judgment, including the ability to take ownership of and move projects to closure

+ Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with an eye for detail combined with pragmatism

+ Excellent communication skills to convey complex legal issues to clients in a clear and concise manner


Anticipate local travel once per week, and occasional national and international business travel.
