The Commercial Solutions Platform is seeking a Corporate Counsel to support enterprise U.S. financial and other patient assistance engagements.

The individual will advise RxPathways and brand teams regarding the creation and management of these engagements in light of applicable state and federal law, as well as OIG guidance. The individual will advise commercial operations and coordinate with Compliance regarding oversight and operations of these engagements in light of applicable laws and guidance. The individual will develop and oversee appropriate controls to mitigate against identified risks and enable patient access to Pfizer medications.

The position will report to the Patient Assistance Engagement Lead. The role requires significant coordination with Pfizer Legal and Compliance colleagues, senior leaders, colleagues, and external parties such as outside counsel and third party vendors to address program requirements and compliance efforts. The candidate will be skilled at navigating complex matrix organizations in order to provide effective counsel and enable solutions.


+ Advise RxPathways and Pfizer Innovative Health and Pfizer Essential Health brand teams regarding patient assistance programs in light of evolving state, federal law and OIG guidance, including, for example, program design, marketing and operations

+ Coordinate with Legal and Compliance colleagues to enhance policies and systems controls to address compliance risk areas; interpreting laws, regulations and policies relating to U.S. financial and other patient assistance engagements.

+ Manage applicable third party vendor relationships ( e.g. coupon adjudicator and HUB) and negotiate related contracts

+ Develop enterprise guidance and advise regarding novel financial assistance models, e.g. engagements with pharmacies, payors, and cash card contracting

+ Support activities related to the oversight, control and management of U.S. financial and other patient assistance engagements including:

+ Supporting third party reviews of systems and transactions

+ Managing and coordinating HUB and coupon vendor audits across Corporate Responsibility and brand teams at regularly scheduled intervals

+ Assessing and revising policies and processes.

+ Drafting agreements and standard templates with vendors, contractors, and other parties to facilitate compliance.

+ Coordination to develop and oversee applicable risk assessment and mitigation plans, e.g. within RAMP

+ Reviewing and advising regarding sales/marketing distribution plans for coupon and vouchers

+ Collaboration with Compliance to manage certification and reporting processes, as well as related activities.

+ Developing and maintaining standard process to review evolving external environment and legal guidance ( e.g. state laws, OIG opinions) and regularly update attorneys, marketing, Corporate Responsibility and others

+ Develop and facilitate live and electronic training to attorneys and other teams across the enterprise as part of annual training plan and as needed


+ BS or BA degree required

+ JD (and admission to practice law in United States) required

+ 7-10 years practicing law with experiences in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry

+ Experience negotiating and drafting contracts

+ Understanding regulations and industry standards required, including the federal false claims act, federal anti-kickback statement, OIG regulations and guidance

+ Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to effectively counsel business teams and enable solutions
