The Keystone Center Extended Care Unit is a competency-based program that utilizes patient's strengths in order to promote recovery from sexually compulsive behavior and trauma.  Out staff consists of a multidisciplinary team who incorporates the twelve-steps, a family systems perspective, education, and a trauma-based focus.  The extended care unit is looking for a PRN counselor, we are located five miles south of the Philadelphia Airport, making our facility an easy location to travel to and from. 

The Counselor provides direct patient care and is responsible for monitoring and delivering high quality services to dually diagnosed/sexually addicted patients.  Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and full participation with the multidisciplinary team toward meeting a patient's treatment plan objectives.

Job Requirements

JOB SUMMARY:

The Counselor provides direct patient care and is responsible for monitoring and delivering high quality services to dually diagnosed/sexually dependent patients.  Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and full participation with the multidisciplinary team toward meeting a patient’s treatment plan objectives.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.   An individual must demonstrate flexibility and competence for the skills this position entails including managing behavioral issues, documenting and maintaining clinical information in charts, limit setting and crisis management.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology social work, counseling, with a clinical specialty in the human services or other related field.

    Knowledge:                      

                           Must possess knowledge of dual diagnosis/ sexually treatment approaches, 12 step Program recovery

    philosophies, basic counseling group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and developmental conditions impacting treatment, limit setting and behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention techniques, and an ability to write progress notes and reports in clear and understandable terms.

    Environmental Conditions: Exposure to dually diagnosed sexually addicted clients who may exhibit violent or aggressive behavior.  Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/bodily fluids and other fluids and other hazardous waste.  General sub-acute hospital conditions.

    Physical Requirements:               Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.  Physical agility to manage patients.  Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
