Job Description

Universal Community Behavioral Health Crisis Intervention Services provide 24/7 hotline, walk in triage and mobile face to face on site triage.  Our Crisis Intervention Services team collaborate with mental health professionals and community partners  to achieve a positive outcome for the person in crisis.  Our services advocate for a positive resolution and assist all individuals through the crisis event.  We have an immediate Full-time openings for a CRISIS COUNSELOR II to join our DuBois based Crisis Intervention Services Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under the administrative supervision of the program Coordinator the Crisis Counselor; triage and follow up of telephone/mobile mental health crisis intervention, emergency services and walk in assessments. Crisis Counselors engage individuals in verbal de-escalation, crisis resolution, suicide risk assessment and prevention, referral collaboration and supportive counseling. Counselors are expected to be professional, empathetic, assertive and detail-oriented.

 

 

Job Requirements

::This position requires the following:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, counseling, education or similar field.  If you do not possess a Bachelor's degree you may still meet the minimum education requirements if you possess both a High Scholl Diploma AND 12 Semester Credit Hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other social sciences or are an RN.
  • Experience: Six months to one year experience in human services of which must be mental health direct care experience in correlation with education according to the PA Bulleting, Vol. 23, No. 10 of March 6, 1993.
  • Possess a valid PA driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Availability to work weekend and holiday shifts as assigned on a rotational basis.
