Position Summary:

Fairmount Behavioral Health is looking for a full time Drug and Alcohol Counselor. The role of the Counselor is to provide direct patient care and is responsible for monitoring and delivering high quality services to co-occurring diagnosed/chemically dependent patients. Primary responsibilities include: Coordination of the full continuum of care; Assessment and documentation of clinical needs; Implementing and delivering individual, group therapy and educational services; preparation of PCPC reports. The provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu; Crisis intervention; and full participation with the multidisciplinary team toward meeting a patient’s treatment plan objectives. Discharge planning and referrals to community resources as required.

 
Requirements

Master’s Degree with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or other related field which includes a practicum in a health and human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.

 

Bachelor’s Degree with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or other related field and 1 year of clinical experience in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor required if not a Master prepared applicant. 

 

Must possess knowledge of co-occurring disorders / chemical dependency treatment approaches, motivational interviewing, 12 Step Program recovery philosophies, basic counseling group processes, therapeutic relationships, age-specific growth and developmental conditions impacting treatment, limit setting and behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention techniques, understanding of funding sources, community resources, and discharge planning.
