Job Description

 Universal Community Behavioral Health (UCBH) is the continuum of the outpatient care system that The Meadows Psychiatric Center founded in July 1999. At this time, the facility recognized some of the challenges in rural areas surrounding the hospital and began a mission to extend behavioral health services by developing an array of programs based on community needs throughout surrounding counties. UCBH includes programs such as: • Mobile Crisis • Outpatient Therapy and Medication Clinics • Blended Case Management Our MISSION is to provide safe, high quality, cost effective behavioral health services throughout our continuum of care. It is our VISION to provide individualized patient care aimed toward recovery and to promote a culture of service excellence.

We have an immediate opening for a Crisis Counselor II to join our Cambria County Crisis Team. 

Responsibilities:

Crisis Counselors engage with individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis.  Services include verbal de-escalation, crisis resolution, suicide risk assessment and prevention, referral collaboration and supportive counseling.

Counselors work closely with Police, Emergency Rooms and Mental Health Providers.

Counselors are professional, empathetic, detail oriented and support recovery.

 

Job Requirements

Job Requirements for the position of Crisis Counselor II  are:

-Bachelor's Degree with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, nursing, counseling, education or a related field; a registered nurse; OR possess a high school diploma and 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other social sciences.

-Must have dependable transportation and a valid PA driver's license

-Previous mental health care experience is preferred.

-Minimum experience of zero to one years in human services of which must be mental health direct care experience in correlation with education according to Pennsylvania Bulletin, volume 23, number 10; March 6, 1993.
