Position Summary

The CRM data science team @WalmartLabs is a cross-functional team of scientists and engineers. It aims developing data-driven models, tools and applications to understand and improve customer's engagement. The intern project focuses on developing a real-time customer life time value prediction modeling system by mining customer engagement data (purchase, browsing, search, email response, app usage, etc.). Major tasks include data processing, feature engineering and model testing.


Position Description


The CRM data science team @WalmartLabs is a cross-functional team of scientists and engineers. It aims developing data-driven models, tools and applications to understand and improve customer's engagement. The intern project focuses on developing a real-time customer life time value prediction modeling system by mining customer engagement data (purchase, browsing, search, email response, app usage, etc.). Major tasks include data processing, feature engineering and model testing.



  • Perform hands-on data exploration and modeling work on massive data sets.


  • Use machine learning and data mining techniques to develop robust models in areas such as customer loyalty prediction, segmentation and profiling, retention analysis, churn assessment, and product recommendation.


  • Pull data from warehouse, perform feature engineering, back-test models, compare model performances and communicate the results.



Minimum Qualifications


  • Currently enrolled and pursing a Master or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent.


  • Have solid knowledge in machine learning and data mining. Experience with machine learning, data mining, statistical analysis and quantity modeling.


  • A keen analytical mind with high levels of creativity and quick solving capacities to change the world in a huge way.


Additional Preferred Qualifications


  • Comfortable coding in Java, Python, or R.


  • Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig, Scalar experience would be great.
