Curriculum Development Program Manager 

Cox Communications, Inc. is seeking a Curriculum Development Program Manager - Instructional Design who manages the design, development and maintenance of a significant curriculum or learning solution program for the organization. 

Reporting to the Director- Curriculum Development, this role has both program management and curriculum design/development responsibilities for projects that may be associated with significant business initiatives. 

Partners with colleagues in Learning Strategy organization to design innovative, instructionally sound, performance-based learning products that enable delivery of the Cox Experience and achievement of business goals. Manages contingent, professional services and internal resources in the development of solutions. Partners with colleagues in Learning Strategy to gain client approval of solutions. 
Transfers knowledge to the Delivery team and/or migrates deliverables to the SumTotal LMS. Conducts cyclic maintenance of New Hire courses. Integrates new products into existing courses. Learning solutions are often part of broader business product, service or strategic initiatives. As such, initiatives may require development under compressed timelines. Development might also include integration of technical trials, integration of new tools, new products and / or new applications. This role has responsibility for managing project based budgets, regular stakeholder interaction and reporting.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Plans, coordinates, supervises and controls multiple, concurrent curriculum development projects. Creates project plans. Ensures all projects are delivered on time, to standard and within budget.
  • Develops and manages the instructional design / development budget for assigned customer segment. Allocates and monitors funds for each instructional design project within area of responsibility. Tracks performance/ actuals to plan/budget and reports regularly.
  • Manages vendor relationships. Crafts vendor statements of work. Selects vendors for each project. Monitors vendor work against timeline. Conducts quality assurance of vendor deliverables. Verifies completed projects meet client acceptance criteria. Prepares and presents vendor after action reviews for all projects. Prepares and presents quarterly vendor reviews. 
  • Conducts needs assessments, course content analyses, learner analyses, and job-task analyses in order to select the most appropriate instructional solution for each project.  
  • Architects unique learning solutions based on personal expertise, standard instructional design approaches, required participant performance, business needs and client constraints. 
  • Manages the design, and development of learning solutions that employ a variety of delivery modalities (eLearning, instructor led training, virtual delivery, performance support) for various types of content to include product knowledge, technical, applications, process and behavioral skill development. Integrates multimedia, game mechanics, virtual /augmented reality, micro learning, advanced simulations, scenario based learning and social learning as applicable to enhance engagement.
  • Consults regularly with Learning Strategy partner and stakeholders to manage curriculum build process from scope through evaluation. Revises deliverables as needed to maintain alignment with initiative requirements. 
  • Manages content transfer programs for deployment of training associated with instructor led and virtual instructor led initiatives. Manages eLearning migration, testing and acceptance. 
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises pilots. Evaluates instructional materials and processes to assess their effectiveness. Manages the revision process. Ensures all deliverables meet client acceptance standards. Supervises development of learning strategy document and associated stakeholder communication collateral for content review and implementation.
  • Manages quarterly / trimester life cycle maintenance of new hire and ongoing programs. Integrates new material, refreshes content and continuously upgrades learning experiences to enhance usability and participant engagement.  
  • Functions as a staff resource and consultant on matters related to needs analysis, instructional design, assessment, and evaluation. 
  • Manages two to 10 vendor and employee curriculum development teams assigned to various projects, coordinates and manages transfer of knowledge from SME’s through curriculum development teams and trainers to end users.  
  • Regularly seeks out and applies feedback to processes to ensure voice of customer engagement and ongoing improvement. 
  • Manages migration, testing and upload of eLearning onto the SumTotal LMS. Partners with Learning Strategy colleagues to leverage full capability of the LMS. 
  • Position requires up to 15% travel



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Required 

  • 7 years’ experience minimum experience in Curriculum Design and Development.  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or equivalent experience 
  • Experience leading teams of curriculum developers.  
  • Formal knowledge of instructional systems design methodology and industry recognized methods of learning evaluation.  
  • Demonstrated program and project management skills. 
  • Strong performance consulting skills and rapport building skills. 
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles, learning theory, and instructional technology. Experience applying this knowledge to real world projects 
  • Proven ability to deliver curriculum development solutions in a fast-paced business environment. 
  • Proven results with strategic thinking, creativity, and deployment of training initiatives linked to business outcomes. 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills 
  • Strong knowledge of PC desktop packages (preferably Microsoft Office) with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills 
  • Proven ability to work efficiently, effectively, and proactively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, dynamic and virtual environment 
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-organizational team environment collaborating with the business leads on key deliverables pertaining to business readiness and specifically in support of training.  
  • Experience with Curriculum development tools such as Captivate, and Articulate as well as learning management systems. 
  • ABILITY TO TRAVEL 15% of the time 

Preferred 

  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related field. 
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing interactive, virtual, mobile, eLearning and instructor-led solutions. 
  • Experience in communications engineering, technical field services, business to business sales or call center environments.
  • Experience architecting, designing and developing synchronous, asynchronous, linear and non-linear learning solutions.
  • Experience architecting, designing and developing learning solutions that incorporate multimedia, game mechanics, virtual /augmented reality, micro learning, advanced simulations, scenario based learning and social learning in order to enhance engagement.
  • Experience leveraging rapid instructional design for accelerated learning.
  • Experience crafting solutions leveraging curated content.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry. 
  • Experience implementing solutions through the SumTotal Learning Management system.
  • Experience designing and developing solutions using the OnPoint mobile platform.
  • Experience using MS Visio, MS Project and/or WorkOtter
  • Experience using eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Captivate
