POSITION SUMMARY:  

Join a team responsible for enabling the digital business and subscriber operations of Cox Media Group's newspapers and online subscriptions.  This position is focused on supporting the Audience Operations group and its internal and external customers.  Responsibilities include monitoring and testing of code-based procedures and reports, documentation of existing and new practices and methodology, maintenance of the code library and policies.  This position will also work closely with the CMG teams to develop and promote standardization efforts across all disciplines.  Additional focus will be applied to validation of both raw data and data layers, support of discovery and implementation of new data, and monitoring and evaluation of both reports and the data housed within the departmental databases. The role is responsible for identifying patterns of problems and recommending process and system changes to prevent future occurrences.  Analysts must leverage creative problem-solving and authoritative knowledge of data and systems and identify opportunities for improvement.  This is a position that requires a person who likes to work in a fast-paced environment and likes to take initiative solving tough problems. Cox is a top employer with industry-leading benefits and commitment to its employees.


JOB DUTIES:

Monitoring and testing of code-based procedures and reports     30%

  • Independently troubleshoot system failures and diagnose root causes
  • Function as a first-line to monitor system and data performance
  • Document failures and recommended fixes
  • Work with IT support team and business-side executives to implement fixes
  • Test and track resolution impact

Validate new and existing data repositories and support standardization of same    30%

  • Work with internal and external teams to review data for anomalies
  • Assist in landing and evaluating new data sources
  • Engage with peers and other teams to mitigate or resolve data discrepancies
  • Query databases to identify patterns of transactions for proactive identification and resolution
  • Identify opportunities for standardization where appropriate
  • When upgrades or system changes are being tested, coordinate data validation and appropriate utilization of local resources

Document existing processes and recommend system and process improvements     20%

  • When patterns of data problems emerge, identify system or process changes that would reduce errors
  • Document recommended system or process changes and escalate for implementation
  • Identify gaps in available knowledge bases and work with peers to resolve same

Develop reporting to monitor and communicate data processes and status 20%

  • Evaluate existing reporting and processes for efficiencies
Assist in the development of a reporting platform that is automated, resilient and self-reporting on alerts centered around data or processing issues

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required
Knowledge of transactionally related systems a plus


EXPERIENCE:

Experience with creative and analytical thinking – knowledge of how to ask and answer questions with data

Experience with process improvement and documentation
Experience working with data using a variety of tools such as SQL

Experience managing projects with a close attention to detail and high-quality performance


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Strong analytical skills
Strong communication skills both verbal and written are essential
