Job Description

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is looking for a TEMPORARY Data Entry Clerk. This position would last for 8 to 12 weeks.

Ability to read and fully understand insurance Explanation Of Benefits (EOB) in order to properly post payments and enter notes in MS4.


Within 24 hours of receiving EOBs, post payments to patients’ accounts and enter detailed notes in MS4 regarding total charges, allowable amounts, contractual amounts, and patient responsibility amounts. 


Post cash payments on a daily basis and reconcile against cash report within 24 hours of receipt.


Reconcile cash posting to appropriate AR account and ensure the account balance is accurate. Communicate EOB follow-up data to appropriate personnel and document AR system. 


Key in charges with 100% accuracy within 24 hours of receipt.


Understand what service charge tickets are needed in order to invoice patient accounts, and ensure service charges are received on a daily basis from all appropriate departments within Hospital.





Inputs data in a timely and 100% accurate manner into information systems.


May assist with the compilation of statistical information for special reports.


Performs program support tasks that may include organizing forms; making photocopies; and/or filing.


Utilizes computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs to enter, store and/or retrieve information as requested or otherwise necessary, and summarizes data in preparation of standardized reports.


Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.


Proven 100% accurate and thorough data entry.


Demonstrated organizational skills with superior attention to detail.


Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.


Ability to work independently; results-driven.


Ability and knowledge of professional communications and solid typing skills.


Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.



Ability to accomplish assigned tasks within established deadlines.


Ability to work effectively with a variety of staff members and departments.


Excellent time-management skills.


Performs other work as required or assigned.

Job Requirements



High School diploma or equivalent.


One (1) year of data entry experience in business-related systems. Experience using MS4 preferred.
