What you'll do at

Position: Data Scientist

Job Location: Bentonville, AR

Duties: Manages the continuous improvement of data science and analytics by researching industry best practices and staying up-to-date on analytical practices; evaluating and recommending vendor products and services; integrating third-party solutions into current processes; developing and recommending process standards and best practices across the retail industry; and mentoring peers and analysts across the division in analytical best practices. Consults with business stakeholders regarding data insights and recommendations by developing insights based on data analysis; ing analytical results to project goals; identifying trends and key insights; determining key insights that require additional analysis; translating results into business actions; developing recommendations regarding the application of insights to business strategies; and presenting insights and recommendations to key stakeholders. Drives analytics insights across the division by developing advanced statistical models and computational algorithms based on business initiatives; directing the gathering of data; assessing data validity and usability of data; synthesizing data into large analytics datasets to support project goals; utilizing big data analytics and advanced data mining techniques to analyze data; coding, testing, and maintaining analytical software tools; identifying trends, patterns, and discrepancies in data; determining additional data needed to support insights; training statistical models for replication for future projects; presenting recommendations to business partners; and influencing future plans based on insights. Leads medium- to large-sized analytics project teams by serving as the senior technical lead for project teams; working with business partners to interpret project goals into data analytic models; facilitating discussions with business partners to determine the root cause of business problems; aligning departmental goals with project plans; developing contingency plans for data analysis; designing data collection tools to conduct primary research to address business initiatives; developing timelines for project execution; driving project teams to deliver according to planned objectives; directing the analysis of data; utilizing business knowledge to ensure data supports project goals; and developing recommendations based on data analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 7 years experience in an analytical role. In lieu of a Master’s degree and 7 years experience, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 9 years experience in an analytical role.

Skills required: Must have experience with: SAS; R; DB2; SQL Server; big data analytics; ARIMA; neural network; machine learning; time series modeling; ensemble models; support vector machine; Teradata SQL; linear and nonlinear regression analysis; market mix model and optimization; structural equation model; cluster analysis; factor analysis; and decision trees. Employer will accept any amount of professional experience with the skills required.
