Position Description

The Advanced Research and Analytics (ARA) organization of UnitedHealthcare delivers analytic services and solutions which support all aspects of UHC operations from intelligent claims adjudication, identification of fraud/waste/abuse, improved member/provider experience, clinical intelligence, and more.   We deliver Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data to turn healthcare data into information that improves the lives of our members, providers and the healthcare systems as a whole.

We are currently seeking a Data Visualization Developer with strong experience in Business Intelligence and Discovery tools. The ideal candidate will have experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse, Big Data and Business Intelligence technologies in the Health Care domain.


**Please note - this position is based in Richardson, TX. This is not a telecommute position.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements /business use cases
  • Design and develop dashboards/reports/data discovery workflows/analytics solution using BI tools such as AtScale and Tableau
  • Develop data pipelines to consume data from Date Lake environment
  • Perform functional and performance testing
  • Deploy big data solutions into production
  • Work with Infrastructure team in deploying solutions into production
  • Implement projects /use case in agile environment
  • Responsible for maintaining & monitoring data quality for Analytical dashboards/reports
  • Contribute to Knowledge repository by documenting technical design considerations, best practices, business workflows, project documentation, troubleshooting guide etc.
  • Provide business user support. Troubleshoot production problems / functional issues with data visualization & discovery tools
  • Implement process improvements (Automation, Performance tuning, Optimize workflows)
  • Collaborate with business and IT partners such as working with internal teams and offshore team

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in implementing Enterprise Data Warehouse & Business solution using technologies such as SQL, ETL Tools, Tableau, Microstrategy, Spotfire and/or DOMO, etc.
  • 6+ months or more of experience working in an Agile environment
  • Familiarity with the Hadoop stack (MapReduce, Sqoop, Pig, Hive, Hbase, Flume)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Big Data Technologies experience
  • Experience leading or working with offshore analysts
  • Data lifecycle management experience
  • Healthcare Industry experience
  • MAPR, Spark and/or Talend experience
  • Proficiency with MS Visio
