What You'll Do

Cisco’s IT organization is seeking an enthusiastic IT Engineer to join the Personal Technologies & Productivity Solutions team. You will be a critical member of this globally dispersed team with a particular focus on our security platforms & technologies across desktop & mobile endpoint technologies. Responsibilites include: 

  • Manage and maintain operations of Cisco’s endpoint security solutions. This includes client/server communication, threat analysis, antivirus protection coverage, and application/database upgrades.
  • Monitor threats and host intrusion events, perform threat trending and present remediation options to team and management.
  • Monitor and set up vendor security alerts (including Microsoft, Apple, McAfee & Cisco), validate, test and deploy security patches & report on deployment success rates.
  • Work in close coordination with desktop architects, engineers, analysts and project managers to deliver, maintain, optimize and secure new enterprise solutions providing capabilities including but not limited to: Anti-Malware, Firewall, Host Intrusion Protection & Data Loss Prevention. Participate in technical assessments, research, and testing of new technologies as requested using client/server design, automation, and scripting standard methodologies and procedures.
  • Stay ahead of the security marketplace and best practices.
  • Maintain endpoint compliance measurement and produce compliance reports for review with management including providing operational recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Perform application vulnerability assessments, working with appropriate vendors, security investigators, and desktop engineers to remediate as required.
  • Build client-facing collateral to enable self-support and communicate system changes including: FAQs, Common Issues, User Remediation, and Roadmaps.
  • Craft and maintain operational and technical documentation including but not limited to runbooks, task sheets, support docs, etc.)

Who You'll Work With

As part of the Desktop Security group in Cisco’s Information Technology organization, you’ll partner with teams in Desktop Services, Mobility, and Software to keep our employees’ computing devices secure at all times. In addition, you will also get the chance to work with other security teams in Cisco, but outside of IT, and also with external partners and solution providers that help us to keep risks low and vulnerabilities at bay.

You have strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, a team-player attitude and a real passion for security and client experience in a highly collaborative and cross-functional service area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems, or equivalent work-related experience and training
  • McAfee VirusScan, ePolicy Orchestrator 4.x and 5.x, CiscoAMP or similar experience desirable
  • McAfee HIPS, Microsoft Security Technologies
  • Windows Desktop and Server knowledge
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of client-server infrastructure
  • Strong track record in working in a dynamic, highly complex organization, responsible for operations and/or process execution
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and clients of various technical levels
  • Detailed troubleshooting skills at the OS and application level, able to perform linear troubleshooting practices
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to deal effectively with diverse skill sets and personalities, work effectively as a team player and a willingness to lend a hand with any project.
  • Expertise in system monitoring, analysis, management, and configuration tools or expertise with desktop management tools
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Desired Skills:

  • Security-related training/certifications desirable including CISSP/SSCP, McAfee ePO Administration, Flexera Vulnerability Intelligence & Corp Software Inspector (formerly Secunia), Cybersecurity
  • Device Management and Software Update Management such as SCCM, CASPER, WSUS, etc.
