Description:

The Prudential El Paso office is seeking a DevOps Region Engineer to support the El Paso (GBTS - Global Business & Technology Solutions) Center. We are expanding our DevOps services and are looking for people with an interest in developing a career in an exciting area for Prudential. We are looking for people who are technical, team players and interested in rapid career progression in this new and expanding IT field – we will provide on the job mentoring and training for these roles.

 

The DevOps Region Engineer has the responsibility for library management and builds management process with for the Prudential DevOps team. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and driving the efficiency and effectiveness of these processes. You will identify, champion, and drive automation opportunities. The DevOps Region Engineer will support tasks to improve service quality, reduce operational risk, better attainment of release dates, and ensure production quality and consistency. You will create solutions, advocate release standards, and enforce quality build processes for successful code deployments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works cross functionally with application management, application development, release management, and code deployment in the implementation of standard procedures
  • Daily management of install, build, and release activities including automating build deployments, continuously improving install and upgrade processes, eliminating build failures
  • Assist in Release and Deployment duties as needed
  • Champions and promotes the benefits of Library Management and Code Build processes
  • Identifies and champions opportunities for build automation
  • Monitors adherence to the Library Management and Code Build processes, policies, and procedures
  • Responsible for identifying and driving implementation of activities that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these processes
  • Define task level procedures across functional areas to ensure region specific requirements are understood, scheduled and communicated effectively
  • Supports region set-up requirements and maintain region schedule for all non-production environments
  • Coordinate Data Encryption / Privacy schedule across impacted disciplines
  • Coordinate region refresh requirements, timeline and tasks across applications
  • Coordinate application of releases to applicable environments with primary stakeholders
  • Release components include database changes, table loads, code, fix and conversion routines
  • Complete application set-up requirements; batch set-up
  • Provides Storage / Space Management and monitoring of test environments
  • Provides Batch Schedule and supports batch runs as required
  • Support job scheduling utilizing appropriate tools; autosys set-up, internal batch job set-up, batch scheduling and execution requirements in conjunction with batch support team
  • Supports security requirements across applicable environments
  • Monitors performance as appropriate
  • Monitors compliance and effectiveness, collects and presents metrics to ensure on target with role expectations and service level agreements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Management, a related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Understanding of PVCS, Maven, Jenkins, and ANT
  • Understanding of Java, Unix & Windows shell scripting, build, release, configuration management practices, branching, and patch management
  • Knowledge of branching and merging concepts and best practices
  • An understanding of ITIL processes; Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration and Release management
  • Collision Management as it relates to Change Management
  • 1-3 years direct work experience implementing continuous integration processes and tools in a web-based and client-server environment
  • Hands-on experience with creating and/or customizing build automation tools on both the UNIX and WINDOWS environments
  • Understanding of both UNIX and Windows OS platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with technical project leads, developers, and QA team members
  • Troubleshooting and problem isolation skills and be capable of clearly communicating complex issues to coworkers (peers, developers, and managers)
  • Experience with facilitation and enforcement of procedures and processes across diverse geographic locations
  • An overall control-oriented focus to ensure processes and service are compliant and risk averse
  • Demonstrated ability of establishing and maintaining metrics based process improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong alliances with those outside of your immediate organization
  • Strong customer service mindset with ability to appropriately balance risk with service delivery expectations
  • Clear, assertive, professional communications (listening, oral and written communications) and presentation skills
