Job Description

Laurel Heights Hospital located in Atlanta Georgia has a full-time DIETARY AIDE. Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive Residential Treatment/Acute and Autism Spectrum Disorders Program for children and adolescents. We serve and treat severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties and co-occurring psychiatric issues. The Dietary Aide duties are as follows: ● Food is placed on the serving line on time ● Is aware of appropriate food items to be served to patients and refers to ● Greets and converses with patients, staff and guests in keeping with effective customer service ● Assures there are plenty of eating utensils, trays, napkins, cups, and any ● Other items needed by customers of the cafeteria ● Is pleasant and helpful when responding to guest needs ● Follows sanitary guidelines as established by supervisor and regulatory agencies ● Covers, labels, and dates all suitable leftovers for storage ● Provides customer service to the point in which cafeteria guests comment positively on the service provided them during meal times ● Is always extremely neat and clean while serving meals projecting a positive image for the dietary department ● Has an exceptional grasp of regulatory guidelines and implements the procedures with ease and minimal direction. ● Food is presented on serving line in a very aesthetically pleasing manner. ● Washes dishes, trays, and utensils promptly and thoroughly. ● Checks water temp. to assure compliance with health and safety standards. ● Washes pots and pans promptly and thoroughly. ● Cleans tables and dining area adequately after meals as assigned. ● Takes down and cleans serving line promptly after meals. ● Sweeps and mops kitchen as necessary. ● Properly cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment. ● Promptly removes trash as assigned. ● Takes and records temp of refrigerator. ● Adequately performs other cleaning activities as assigned by dietary supervisor. ● Readily utilizes any extra time while on duty to perform cleaning tasks. ● On own initiative organizes cleaning projects. ● Promptly receives deliveries when notified of their arrival. ● Is polite and helpful to delivery people. ● Follows correct procedures when putting delivered items in their proper storage place. ● Stores items in a timely manner. ● Effectively monitors the use of supplies and notifies supervisor when supplies are limited. ● Voluntarily assists supervisor in maintaining a written inventory of supplies. ● Recommends cost conscious methods of utilizing and ordering supplies. ● Independently organizes or re-organizes supplies and materials. ● Alerts supervisor to need for replenishing inventory. ● Slices and chops items as assigned for the cooks to use in meal preparation. ● Places dessert items in serving containers to be placed on serving line. ● Prepares other items such as salads and beverages. ● Sets up buffet lines or salad bar when used. ● Stocks galleys on units with juice, milk and snack items. ● Is cooperative and prepares other items or assists in other means when asked. ● Takes pride in the presentation of food and assure it always appears attractive. ● Volunteers to prepare other food items and cook particular dishes from time to time. ● Consistently performs tasks before being asked. EOE.

Job Requirements

Prefer High School Diploma. Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions.  Must be able to concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic; must be able to consistently meet deadlines; and finish all food preparation at specified serving time; must be flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and organization operating needs. Must be able to read and comprehend recipes or instructions on prepackaged products.  Ability to read, convert and adjust mathematical measurements for recipe adjustments. Must be able to use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers and dishwashers; knowledge of the essential hygiene factors involved in food preparation; knowledge of cleansing products and the appropriate methods of cleansing a variety of surfaces. Must be able to work independently, in a restricted physical environment for extended periods of time. Must have ability to perform several tasks concurrently. Must have skills in maintaining information as highly confidential. EOE.
