Position Summary:

Cox Media Group has a new opportunity for a Digital Content Analyst and Researcher, who will be responsible for analysis and tracking of the digital content metrics of the CMG newspaper brands in Atlanta, GA, West Palm Beach, FL, Austin, TX, and Dayton, OH.  This role will report directly to the VP, Content Strategy and Research and will consistently provide all 4 markets with actionable strategic recommendations based on analysis of metrics trends. The position will also play an instrumental part in helping to oversee content research projects for all 4 markets.  This role will require the use of existing web analytics data including Google Analytics and Site Catalyst to identify trends and preferences in customer behavior.  Monitors site performance on a monthly, daily and hourly basis.  Provides metrics support and analysis for Content and Brand Marketing departments.  Provides support in the regular analyses of online content performance for multiple products. Prepares and presents post-project analyses on both small- and large-scale projects. Must be collaborative and able to work across different markets and internal organizations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of content metrics analysis and strategy
  • Manage complex data and analyze ongoing trends
  • Partner and collaborate with local markets on standardization of content metrics reporting and development of analytic strategies
  • Identify opportunities and best practices for content execution based on metrics
  • Provide strategic recommendations to content leaders based on data analysis
  • Track and report on data for long-term content initiatives such as the 2020 A Parameter Topics
  • Conduct queries and generate reports in Site Catalyst, Google Analytics and ASAP for analysis and modeling.
  • Create dashboards and automated reports in Site Catalyst and Google Analytics on routine metrics such as pages/visit, duration of visit and repeat visits. 
  • Provide support with regular “deep-dive” analyses of products and initiatives.
  • Support post-project analysis on small- and large-scale projects.
  • Work closely with other web analytics experts across the company to maintain standard metrics definitions, collaborate and achieve efficiencies.
  • Assist with any content and brand marketing research projects including internal studies, CMG research studies and outside research vendors.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; Information architecture, statistics, mathematics preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience with Omniture Site Catalyst, Google Analytics, Tableau or other web analytics software preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of experience manipulating large amount of complex data and relating large datasets to each other
  • Knowledge of fundamental consumer research principles including research methodologies and screening parameters
  • Usability and user testing of digital products a plus
  • Experience posting information online and maintaining a website a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and math skills with an ability to translate numbers into meaningful information.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to build relationships necessary to coordinate interdepartmental projects.
  • Ability to work on several projects at once and under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including rules of composition and advanced grammar.
